Betsy Laboe

Betsy has been married to her husband, Kevin for 33 years and they have 2 children. Recently, she moved back to the Detroit area after living in Brazil. She worked as Director of Business Development for Worth New York and for Doncaster prior to that.  For over a decade, Betsy co-hosted a local cable show, “Spectacles”, interviewing women who have contributed to the community. She is now hosting a Sparkle Speak 10-15 minute snippets with women sharing Faith Stories. Betsy has lead and been involved in bible studies in church and community for over 30 years. Betsy has also enjoyed many volunteer positions including President of the Junior League of Birmingham, President of Cranbrook House Auxiliary , co-chair of Young Life in Michigan, President of the Seaholm PTA.  Betsy enjoys travel, writing, photography, tennis and interior design and going to art galleries. She is excited to see what God will do to encourage and inspire women through Sparkle!

Kathryn Calibeo

Kathryn Calibeo is an Inside Sales Representative for a tech company and currently works full time from home. Prior to working at CDW, she worked as an intern with a Christian organization called Cru at Michigan State University, where she had the privilege of overseeing the freshmen and Greek Life bible studies, weekly meetings, and discipleship programs. Kathryn now lives in Royal Oak with her husband Anthony and Yorkie-Poo, Otto. They have been married since 2016, and they have 2 boys! Kathryn currently attends church at Woodside Bible Church (Detroit campus), where she serves on the women’s writing team and also helps to lead a marriage small group. Kathryn is our Podcast host for Sparkle Speak!

 

Jill Wilkinson

Jill has been married to her husband Scott for 40 years and has two grown daughters. Jill’s passion is a combination of faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ, using the gifts and talents bestowed on her which are a combination of words and numbers, and always looking for ways to serve to the utmost of her abilities and maybe a little bit beyond! Jill has served the business community as a CPA, as Divisional Controller of Henry Ford Hospital for Henry Ford Health Care Corporation, as an independent business woman performing accounting services for women led businesses and non-profits, audits for PTAs in the Birmingham School District in Michigan, as the Chief Financial Officer for the Wilkinson Eye Center and as an Executive Producer of Bonhoeffer the Musical. Jill has been involved in Christian organizations as a core leader for Community Bible Study, as a lay participant in medical missions for over 25 years in Haiti, Belize, Nicaragua, and Bolivia. Jill has also authored a novel, Downsized, which seeks to encourage those who find themselves at the point of needing to redefine themselves to seek out resources in their faith community to find their way forward. Jill loves her Bible study groups who have been a great source of encouragement, her growing family, reading novels and historical biographies, snuggling her loving pups and enjoying this season with her husband of the empty nest and the next chapter!

Heather Bearden

Heather has been married to Tim almost 30 years and they have three daughters.  Starting with Community Bible Study over 25 years ago, she has been leading various bible studies for over 20 years! While in college for Dental Hygiene, she volunteered at a therapeutic riding center.  Enjoying this experience so much, she began to pray for the future of somehow combining horses and serving God at the same time. Now 30 years later, Heather and her husband have been restoring an 1860’s farmstead that will serve as the location of Sparkle women’s retreats. While Heather remains an active Board Member for BCC, a therapeutic equestrian center, she also enjoys travel, entertaining water sports, snow skiing and competing with her American Quarter Horse.

 
 

Judi Wallace

Judi has been married to her husband William (Wally) for 35 years. They have one daughter. Judi has her own accounting firm and lives on Long Island in New York. Judi has been involved in many ministries within her Church. Judi is a strong believer in intercessory prayer and is a very active member of the healing ministry at her church. Judi believes that living a faith filled life and giving of one’s self is one of the best ways to evangelize the Word of God.

 

Carla Chennault

Blessed with a loving husband, two God-fearing daughters, and a beautiful new granddaughter, Carla loves God through Jesus Christ with all her heart.  As a believer, she strives to encourage others in their faith and to represent God well. 

In her professional life, Carla works as the Education Director for ADL (Anti-Defamation League) Michigan.  In this role, she partners with K-12 schools throughout the state to provide ADL’s Anti-Bias and Antisemitsm educational resources.  Prior to joining ADL, Carla spent 20 years as a classroom education and school administrator.  

In her free time, Carla enjoys swimming, reading, and shopping the clearance racks for bargains.
